The fact that broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables in the world is not questionable at all, and we all know the numerous health benefits of this plant. But do you really know how to prepare them properly, what kind of benefits they possess and which parts are edible? Keep on reading to find out!

BROCCOLI LEAVES AND STALK ARE HEALTHIER THAN THE ACTUAL BROCCOLI FLOWER

Most of us use only broccoli’s flower because it contains an abundance of calcium, antioxidants, magnesium and vitamins A, C and E.

But what about this plant’s stalk and leaves? Are they good for consumption or not? The answer is yes, they are safe and recommended for consumption. What you maybe did not know, is that only 30 grams of broccoli leaves, which you probably throw away, contain 90% of the required daily doses of vitamin A, which is very important for improving the sight and immune system. There are also 43% of the required daily doses of vitamin C, in those 30 grams of leaves. When it comes to preventing cancer, this vitamin helps. Try and cook the leaves together with the flower.

You probably make the same mistake with the stalks. Broccoli stalks contain more fiber than this plant’s flower and have sweet – like taste. Since the stalks need more cooking, you should start cooking them before you start cooking the rest of the vegetables.

You knew before that broccoli is on the top of the list of natural healing plants and now you know that you can eat every single part of it.
