Scientists Have Discovered What Happens When You Crack Your Knuckles (video)

When you hear someone say ‘pull my finger’ you would assume it’s to crack a fart joke. In this case, ‘Pull My Finger’ was the name of the study to find out what happens when you crack your knuckles.

Ever since people have realized that cracking your knuckles makes a cool ‘pop’ noise, people have been obsessed with cracking their fingers.

Greg Kawchuck was the head researcher who led a study to find out what happens when the digits on your hands get pulled. He used an MRI machine to find out.
The ‘Pull My Finger’ study used a patient named Jerome Fryer to be placed inside the machine and have his knuckles cracked.
By the end of the scan, all was revealed. So what really happens when you pull on your fingers?
According to the study a gas-filled cavity in your joints collapses when your fingers get pulled and it causes the popping noise.

Popping your fingers might give you some instant satisfaction but you can actually develop long-term damage to your joints and ligaments. On the brightside, despite what your mama told you, cracking your knuckles does NOT cause arthritis.
