This Desperate Mother Spends All Night On The Internet While Her Baby lays In A Sink. What A Story.

When 35-year old Stephanie Smith gave birth to her son, she couldn’t be happier. However, after a while, she noticed a strange rash on her baby’s skin which turn their life into a nightmare!

When he was 3 months old, Isaiah developed a skin rash which worsened if he was exposed to perfume or other scents. Sometimes, the rashes on his skin became so bad they burst and bled! The doctor that examined the baby though it was an extreme case of eczema so he prescribed common steroidal topical treatment, which worked at the beginning. However, after a while, the situation only got worse. Isaiah’s whole body was suddenly covered in rashes, which would occasionally go only to return worse than before! Doctors had no clue about the condition, and in the meantime, the baby’s hair started to fall off. “His doctors said it was just eczema. Numerous doctors came in and out of the room. We went to a GI doctor who told me that I was poisoning my son with my breastmilk and I needed to stop straightaway,” Stephanie says.

When he was 5 months old, Isaiah’s skin suffered an extreme outbreak which burst his skin. He was immediately treated with heavy steroids and the situation was resolved for 2 days, when the painful rashes returned. Stephanie was constantly by her son’s side – she was wrapping him in bandages after every treatment. Even the hands of the boy were wrapped so he could not scratch himself while sleeping.

The only time when Isaiah was feeling better was while he was in water. His mother spent hours sitting next to him while he rested in the sink with running water on his skin. “Every time when his skin came in contact with my skin it would break open and would start discharging like crazy. I couldn’t even touch my baby with my cheek against his,” says Stephanie who couldn’t hag her son or hold him unwrapped. “He was always screaming and in pain, and I was always crying. It was like he had no skin, he was constantly in pain and one time it was so bad that I thought: if this is his life, then take him to the next one.” says Stephanie.

When doctors said they couldn’t help him, she started searching for solutions online. She discovered a post about steroid withdrawal on some forum which showed pictures of kids with the same condition as Isaiah. After a lot of reading, she understood what the problem was. “There they were discussing the symptoms of the steroids and how it could exacerbate skin issues when you quit taking them,” she says. Right after reading the post, she decided to stop the steroidal treatment and prepare homemade lotions and creams which were gentle to her son’s skin. A lemon grass and zinc mixture worked best, and after a short time, Isaiah’s skin began to grow without rashes. The pain stopped as well, and after 10 months, his skin went back to normal again!

“We went to 35 doctors and they all said it was eczema. I like to show them the pictures where Isaiah’s skin has recovered.” The best part is that the boy that no one could touch, is now happy and can walk around and play outside. “We have lost the first year of his life. I couldn’t even kiss him or hold him to my hands. But, now we can hold him all the time. He loves to hug!” says Stephanie.
